Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood Endorses Jay Mitchell for Alabama Attorney General
BIRMINGHAM, AL—Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood today announced his endorsement of Jay Mitchell for Attorney General.
Blackwood said, "As Mobile County District Attorney, my duty is to hold criminals accountable and protect the people of Mobile County. To effectively fulfill that role, Alabama needs an Attorney General who truly understands the realities of our justice system and will stand firmly with local prosecutors when we enforce the law. Jay Mitchell is that proven leader—he has the experience and commitment to support us in this work. I am proud to endorse him for Attorney General."
DA Blackwood was elected to lead Alabama's 13th Judicial Circuit in 2022. He is a veteran prosecutor with more than 15 years of experience in the Mobile County District Attorney's Office. A graduate of Auburn University and the Cumberland School of Law, Blackwood previously served as Chief Assistant District Attorney and has successfully prosecuted thousands of cases—earning national recognition for his work in complex and capital litigation.
As the chief law enforcement official in Mobile County, DA Blackwood leads a team of over 90 prosecutors, trial coordinators, investigators, victim advocates, social workers, and other staff. Their mission is to aggressively prosecute criminals and advance strategies that prevent crime and strengthen public safety in Mobile County.
