Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver Announces Support for Jay Mitchell in Alabama Attorney General Race

BIRMINGHAM, AL—Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver today announced his endorsement of former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell for Attorney General.

Sheriff Oliver has led the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department since 2011. He served as the Alabama Sheriffs Association President in 2023, and he has held various leadership roles in other regional and statewide law enforcement initiatives. He has also earned a reputation for strong local policing and effective interagency cooperation.

Sheriff Oliver said, “Jay Mitchell stands shoulder to shoulder with law enforcement. He understands what it takes for us to keep Alabama families safe and will have our backs as the state’s top cop.
