Colbert County Sheriff Eric Balentine Endorses Jay Mitchell for Alabama Attorney General
BIRMINGHAM, AL—Colbert County Sheriff Eric Balentine today announced his endorsement of Jay Mitchell for Attorney General of Alabama, citing Mitchell’s proven record of standing with law enforcement and presiding over the state’s toughest criminal cases as an Alabama Supreme Court Justice.
“Jay Mitchell is the kind of leader law enforcement can count on,” said Sheriff Balentine. “He understands that protecting Alabama starts with protecting the men and women who risk their lives every day in the line of duty. Jay will fight to strengthen protections for law enforcement officers, expand access to mental health resources for first responders, and make sure we have what we need to keep Alabama safe. I know he’ll take care of my deputies—and every officer across this state.”
Sheriff Balentine is a passionate advocate for providing law enforcement officers with the physical, mental, and legal resources they need to make safe decisions in the line of duty—both for themselves and the communities they serve. His decision to make an endorsement in this race is driven by Mitchell’s proactive approach to immunity protections, mental health resources, and high-level training for law enforcement officers.
Mitchell welcomed the endorsement: “Sheriff Balentine is a hands-on leader who invests in his people and his community. His passion for bettering law enforcement is contagious, and I look forward to working alongside him to make Alabama safer and stronger.”
Sheriff Balentine’s endorsement adds to a growing coalition of law enforcement leaders across Alabama who trust Jay Mitchell to fight crime and back the blue.
